Paul Peterson, M.P.S.

During his career, he directed the Vocational Rehabilitation Center for North Shore University Hospital – Manhasset, one of the largest teaching hospitals on Long Island, New York, and developed numerous training programs for the local community as well as for employees of the North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System, a nationally recognized leader in all aspects of health care.

Mr. Peterson participated in a health system-wide undertaking to “re-engineer” each member hospital’s health care delivery model. This effort sought to analyze current procedures, protocols and staffing rationales in order to develop more effective, cost-efficient, and more accountable patient care delivery systems. Integral to the effort were concepts such as skill leveraging, flexible staffing and outsourcing, all of which were relatively new to the industry at the time. Job descriptions were reviewed and re-written to insure that individuals were functioning efficiently, and that their duties best utilized their skills and training, and that their compensation was consistent with their responsibilities.

In 2001 Mr. Peterson became an independent health care working for large independent laboratories. He developed management and employee training programs with special emphasis on improving customer service and patient care. Mr. Peterson also has acted as a facilitator in the analysis of non-technical procedures at for-profit clinical laboratories, and assisted his clients in identifying ways to improve the efficacy of their operations. Mr. Peterson’s skill in reducing complex procedures to basic, definable steps has been invaluable in developing effective short-term training vehicles.

Mr. Peterson’s experience as both an administrator, “system” analyst and a trainer enable him to help his clients analyze their operation, facilitate consensus for necessary changes, assist in the development of new procedures, and implement their strategies through highly effective multi-modal training vehicles designed specifically for their staff.

Mr. Peterson received a Master of Professional Studies degree in Health Services Administration from The New School of Social Research in New York City.
